AC Mechanic

Job Summary:

The AC Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This role requires a strong technical background, problem‚Äësolving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, test, and commission new HVAC and refrigeration units in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local codes.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions using diagnostic tools, schematics, and troubleshooting charts.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical connections.
• Repair or replace faulty components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control boards.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate service records, invoices, and work orders using the company‚Äôs service management software.
• Provide on‚Äësite training and guidance to customers on system operation and preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
• Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and changes in HVAC codes and regulations.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited HVAC apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HVAC or refrigeration technician, with proven AC repair and installation skills.
• Valid HVAC technician license or certification (e.g., EPA 608, HVAC Excellence, NATE) required.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment such as manifold gauges, refrigerant analyzers, and multimeters.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem‚Äësolving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‚Äëfocused attitude.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Valid driver‚Äôs license and reliable transportation.

Additional Info:

This position may require travel to multiple job sites across the region and occasional evening or weekend work to meet client needs. The AC Mechanic will report to the Service Manager and work closely with the sales and project teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
